Brent Butt was the creator, head writer, show-runner, executive producer, star and sometime director of “Corner Gas” (CTV) as well as the lead character. Currently Brent stars in “Hiccups” (CTV) a hysterically funny Canadian sitcom heading into its second season. In addition to his successful sitcom, Butt recently signed a deal with Vancouver’s Brightlight Pictures to write, produce and star in a feature film, and is currently working on his own network special for CTV.

Prior to “Corner Gas” (CTV), the Saskatchewan born Brent Butt, spent 15 years making people laugh on the stand-up circuit and quickly gained a name as one of the funniest men in the country. He’s the recipient of four Canadian Comedy Awards including Best Male Stand-up (2001), Best TV Performance by a Male (2004 & 2005) and Best Writing in a TV Series (2004). In 2008 he was presented with the Comedy Network’s Sir Peter Ustinov Award at the World Television Festival in Banff, an honour he shares with some of his comedic idols, including Bob Newhart, John Cleese and John Candy.
