Best known for three decades as half of the percussion tandem known as the Rhythm Devils, MICKEY HART was an integral part of the extraordinary expedition into the soul and spirit of music, we know as The Grateful Dead. The extended polyrhythmic excursions of Mickey and Bill were highlights of Grateful Dead shows.

The Grateful Dead percussionist’s endeavor to cross borders and expand musical horizons has resulted in an eclectic world sound that must be heard to be believed. Described as “experimental music from outer space meets the funkiest rhythm section”, the show will feature brand new material as well as selections of MICKEY HART’s greatest hits and Grateful Dead songs.

MICKEY HART and his partners in Planet Drum released a self-titled album that spent 26 weeks at #1 on the Billboard World Music Chart and received the Grammy for Best World Music Album (1991). The Global Drum Project took home the Grammy for Best Contemporary World Music Album (2007).

MICKEY HART has been honored repeatedly for his contributions. The Grateful Dead was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1994). Along with the other members of the Grateful Dead, Mickey received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (2007). Additionally, Mickey was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame (2009), received the NARAS SF Chapter Governors Award (2004), Surround Music Awards Best Multi-track Reissue (2002) for Grateful Dead American Beauty and a Music Has Power Award (2003).
