For her second Island Def Jam album, the aptly named Joy (2010), the young, 24 year-old industry veteran Fefe Dobson is finally embracing her roots, with a no holds barred collection of full throttle rock & roll that spotlights her skills as a singer, songwriter and a performer. From the cheeky, nursery rhyme playground anthem and first single “I Want You”, the tribal percussion of “Can’t Breathe”, and the insanely catchy “Ghost” and “Stuttering”, Fefe Dobson has finally found the sweet spot in her mix of rock and club beats. Fefe Dobson burst onto the music scene as a precocious 18 year-old from Scarborough, Ontario releasing her self-titled debut album in 2003 which spawned four hit singles including “Bye Bye Boyfriend”, “Take Me Away”, “Everything” and “Don’t Go (Girls and Boys)”. She appeared as Tina Turner in the NBC series, American Dreams and opened for Justin Timberlake’s European tour. The album also earned her the Canadian Radio Music Award for “Best New Solo Artist” in 2004 and two Juno Award nominations for “Pop Album of the Year” and “New Artist of the Year” in 2005. After appearing on Much Music’s DisBand and receiving a “thumbs up” on the show, one of the judges visited the band in their home town of Chilliwack to attend a local concert and invited These Kids Wear Crowns to perform at the showcase back in Toronto which earned them the interest of numerous record labels. After shooting their music video in April 2010 for “Break It Up” they joined the western Canadian leg of Faber Drives “Can’t Keep a Secret Tour” but by June, they headlined their own tour dubbed “The Not Really a Tour Tour” with shows in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. They are still doing it like they do so get your dance shoes on, the ride has just begun! For more information on THESE KIDS WEAR CROWNS please visit www.myspace.com/thesekidswearcrowns.
