The spirited, eye-patched front man of the group DR. HOOK, RAY SAWYER lays down the soulful vocals that launched the band to international superstar status, landing them on “The Cover Of The Rolling Stone”. Unforgettable hits “Sylvia’s Mother”, “You Make My Pants Want To Get Up And Dance”, “Only Sixteen”, “Walk Right In”, “When You’re In Love With A Beautiful Woman”, “Sexy Eyes” and “Sharing The Night Together” led to 60 Gold & Platinum Records.

Born and raised in Alabama, Ray made his bones blending the black and white Southern music that kept Alabama dance halls and clubs hopping. He developed a style that extracted honesty and emotion with an intensity and sense of conviction that truly moves an audience. In recognition of his contribution, RAY SAWYER was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame (2005).

With a new band and a new twist on his familiar sound Ray Sawyer has been touring Canada, the U.S. and overseas with great success. His current style is harder edged and more soulful, while remaining a little tongue-in-cheek. Ray’s new CD Captain shows he hasn’t lost a lick. With songs “Rooster Blues”, “Hey Willie”, “The Big Easy” and “Bo Diddly’s Autograph” RAY SAWYER is energetic, prankish and unmistakable, a unique reflection of good times in good music.
