Formed in Vancouver and Toronto, THE KINGS were originally known as WhistleKing. They wrote and rehearsed and did club gigs for 3 years before their Bob Ezrin produced debut album on US major label Elektra Records, “The Kings Are Here” yielded the smash two song segue “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ To Glide” which stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for over six months. It was named one of the Top 100 U.S. Radio Programmers Picks of the Decade by Album Network Magazine and was voted one of the Top 100 Canadian Singles of All Time and was recently awarded the SOCAN Classic Award for over 100,000 plays on Canadian radio. THE KINGS were named Most Promising Group by Cashbox Magazine. They were also nominated for a JUNO Award. Their amazing appearance on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand helped spread the word and the incredible video for “Beat/Switchin’” has been viewed over 1.5 million times. The album “The Kings Are Here” went gold in Canada, and since it’s re-release on CD as “The Kings Are Here and More”, combined sales have passed platinum status. The band’s studio project “Unstoppable” saw the title track reach the Top 10 in Canada. They have released 5 studio albums, 2 live CDs, an Anthology, and a DVD Documentary.

Always a great live band, The Kings have logged some 2000 shows across North America, sharing the stage with such notables as Bob Seger, Jeff Beck, The Beach Boys and Eric Clapton. With the advent of the digital music world a whole new generation of fans are bringing a resurgence of popularity to the band with such tracks as “Clean Shot”, “Shoulda Been Me”, “Cosmic Groove” and “The Longest Story Ever Told”. A quick trip to iTunes shows the depth and versatility of the songwriting from THE KINGS with over 65 titles available. Their current shows feature all the above songs as well as “Liz and Dick”, “It’s Okay”, “Don’t Let Me Know” and “Go Away”. THE KINGS are definitely still here!
